We love Kristen Bell. She played the voice of Anna in Disney’s Frozen as the latest in her long list of spunky, fun-loving, and bubbly characters. Kristen seems like such a likable person, both on and off-camera. So, you can imagine the surprise many of her fans experienced when she recently shared with People.com about her lifelong struggle with anxiety and depression. (People.com) How can someone as cute as Kristen Bell battle with such a heart-breaking experience?

Kristen Bell is not alone. Many of us have years of experience dealing with the suffocating feelings of anxiety, depression, or both. Sadly, much of our society has treated anxiety and depression as a mental choice or an overblown reaction to the normal pressures of life. As Bell shared,

“The world wants to shame you [for going on a anxiety or depression medication], but in the medical community, you would never deny a diabetic [their] insulin, ever, but for whatever reason, when someone needs a serotonin inhibitor, they’re immediately crazy or something.”

We know better. There should be no shame in finding the proper treatment for anxiety and depression. You may have suffered from anxiety or depression from a very early age, similar to Kristen Bell. For many women though, the feelings of anxiety or depression can begin manifesting as we age into our middle years. You may not have experienced anxiety or depression before you entered your 40s or even 50s, but our changing hormones can have a substantial influence on anyone’s mental health.

Our ReVital care team understands how debilitating and very real the effects of anxiety and depression can be. We also know the crucial role our changing hormones can play into our mental thought process and mental health. At ReVital we can help identify the effect your hormones may be contributing towards feelings of anxiety or depression. We offer bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) that can help treat many of the symptoms caused by imbalanced hormones, including anxiety and depression.
